This talk takes us back to the start of the Imperial War Graves Commission on 21st May 1917, developed out of the British Army’s Graves Registration, established in 1915. Today the Commission continues to care for 23,000 burial sites around the globe.

Please note this is a ticketed event and spaces are limited:
Tickets £10.00 - Eventbrite Link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tin-hut-talks-tickets-827885005337

Trevor Povey has been a long term supporter of Shoreham Fort and his wealth of knowledge has proved invaluable over the years, as has his friendship. Trevor has given many talks at our AGMs and is delighted to be involved with our Tin Hut Talks.

Trevor says “Have you ever wondered how we got from projecting an image on the cave wall, to building an industry that would excite and entertain people all over the world? Much of it developed (excuse the pun), here but by who, and when.

This talk, in two sections covers the events within a seven-mile linear journey from Brighton to Lancing, the characters and their contributions to film. The second section covers the characters, companies, their locations and the films that they produced. On the way, we discuss some myths, ending up with the tale of filmmaking up to around 1925 when the industry changed forever. “
