Tin Hut Talk - The Early Development of Tanks and the Lessons Learnt in World War I
Thursday 16th October, 06:30 pm — Shoreham Fort
This month's Tin Hut Talk guest speaker is Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Geoffrey Vesey Holt MBE, with his fascinating talk on The Early Development of Tanks and the Lessons Learnt in World War I
Geoffrey, Royal Tank Regiment, was the very first speaker we had for our Tin Hut Talks series and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him back with us again to close this season’s talks, where you will discover how Britain revolutionised warfare in just 14 months!
Join Geoffrey as he reveals how 'Mother', the first tank, broke the deadly stalemate of trench warfare. From Churchill's vision to the engineering brilliance of d'Eyncourt, Tritton and Wilson, learn how British innovation transformed the Western Front and helped secure victory against Germany. Follow the evolution from 'Mother' to the Mark IV and V tanks that brought surprise back to the battlefield at Cambrai and Amiens, ultimately delivering a decisive blow to German forces.
Don't miss this captivating exploration of a remarkable military achievement!
