Shoreham Fort

Giving History a Future by Bringing History to Life

A Bikers Beacon

We are proud to be hosting this event at the Fort on the 4th August 2014:

Bikers Beacon

The 2 & 3 wheeled community of the Adur & Arun Districts will come together at the historic Shoreham fort between 2100 and 2130. Then at 2155 they will all shine their main beam headlights towards the lighthouse providing a beacon like illumination over Shoreham that will be seen from the site of the old WW1 barracks and training trenches on the South Downs. At exactly 2200 the headlights will be extinguished, as will a great many others the length and breadth of our great country. A short service will take place followed by time for reflection before extinguishing the candle at 2300 and closing the event.

All bikers, scooterists and trikers etc, are welcome to attend and participate in this unique occasion. Should anyone wish to make a donation, then there will be Royal British Legion Riders with collection buckets and there will also be a collection point at the Snack Shack. All donations received will go to the Poppy Appeal.

All motorcyclists please note access to this scheduled ancient monument is a great and rare privilege and we must respect it’s status. Therefore please only enter and leave the site through the designated access point and please follow the marshal’s instructions at all times. Finally when leaving the site please be patient, there will be the inevitable bottlenecks but its important we do not damage this ancient site and the easiest and best way to exit is to follow the instructions of the marshals. Thank you.
