What can we say, other than thank you, for the huge support that was shown last night at our AGM and Trevor Povey’s talk.
The Sussex Yacht Club provided the perfect venue, once again, and were amazing hosts… We’d like to thank you very much for being so accommodating, sorting everything for us, rearranging the room and bringing up those extra chairs – thank goodness you did though as there weren’t many empty space in the 70 laid out…lol
Thank you also to Trevor. Your support of the project, and us, means and awful lot to us personally and we are genuinely grateful that you so willingly give your time for us. It wouldn’t be the same without you so same time next year…?
I think those of you who were there will agree that the combination of Craig’s video of 1977 ~ 2015 and our commissioned video of ‘The Dream’ was spot on. We now hope that with this dream firmly planted in the forefront of your minds you will see what we see and it will inspire you to get involved and help move this project forward.
Thank you must finally go to our dedicated team of volunteers. Many were in the room last night but some of whom I didn’t get a chance to talk to properly, I’m so sorry. Thank you from all the Trustees for your time, commitment and dedication to this project. Thank you also for being part of our fort family…
We’re now going to hibernate for a couple of days but we’ll be back on site on February 14th between 11:00 ~ 16:00, with a tour at 14:00.
Thank you all once again for coming, we honestly couldn’t do it without you as our supporters and volunteers.
In addition to our December notification, we’d like to remind you all of our upcoming AGM.
We’d like to invite all to come and see how the fort has progress through 2014-15 and how we see it progressing in the future.
After our short AGM we are welcoming back Trevor Povey to enlighten us on his talk ‘Bungalow Town’. Anyone who knows Trevor will agree that this man’s knowledge is astounding and we’re sure to be treated to some amazing photos and the stories attached to them.
Please do note that our AGM isn’t closed to members, it’s an open meeting and all are very welcome – All we ask is that you let us know in advance if you would like to attend so we can get you a chair.
Please feel free to share this event with those who you think will be interested in Trevor’s talk, Bungalow Town has a lot of history and we thinks it is fair to assume that we will all coming away having learnt something.
We at Shoreham Fort can't do any of the work we are able to without the help and support of many people, if you would like to contribute please click the donate button below. Your donations will go towards materials and equipment to help us restore the Fort.
The Friends of Shoreham Fort.
More then 6113 hours have been contributed... Why don't you join in? Find out more here.
We're always in need of equipment, tools, and items at the fort... here's a few things on our wish list:
Purchased with funding raised through a week of community fundraising in Shoreham Branch
A big THANK-YOU to Santander for the donation!
We were very fortunate to have been donated the doors to the Nissen hut and Food of Fort by Vivo Vision in Worthing. Unfortunately, with the break in, the door and window to Food for Fort is damaged and has been boarded up since September. It would be incredible if there was anyone out there who could help us with the replacement of these broken items.
We have four main events of the year, the biggest being our Military History Weekend - Sponsors of any of our events would be very welcome - please contact us
Bid writers / Architects / Fundraisers
We are getting to the end of the useful life of our trowels, hand garden forks and equipment that we use for carefully weeding around the Scheduled Monument. Any small hand tools would be gratefully received. As would kneeling mats and gloves.
The Dream........ We really are working on this but relying on others is a very frustrating process ;)
This year we were able to purchase 40 chairs, 40 clipboards, an A Frame easel and dry marker pens to complete our classroom facility in the Nissen hut. This was all made possible by the Shoreham and Southwick Rotary who we help when we can with book donations and especially at Christmas with our very own version of Elf and Safety lol Thank you for your continued support
A big THANK-YOU to Rotary Club of Shoreham & Southwick for the donation!
With a partial award for an application to Sussex Community Foundation we have been able to increase our outreach and education programme; therefore increasing word of mouth of our project and engaging the wider community in a positive and proactive manner.
A big THANK-YOU to Sussex Community Foundation for the donation!
People are genuinely surprised when we tell them how few volunteers we have that come on site on a regular basis to help maintain and conserve the site for the enjoyment of the public. If you think you would like to get involved with this amazing project then please do get in touch or come down on one of our volunteer days. It may look like it's all hard, manual work but there really is a job for all.
